Position Paper of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) on the Plurilateral Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)

German Trade Union Confederation (DGB): Position Paper on TiSA (PDF, 222 kB)

In the context of the public debates around the agreements between the EU and the US (TTIP) as well as Canada (CETA), the DGB has made its position and demands regarding free trade agreements very clear. For the service sectors, public services have to be excluded from the agreement. Sensible rules that tie the provision of services to social and environmental conditions have to be maintained in order to guarantee universal access to services for the general public. These demands naturally not only apply to TTIP and CETA, but to all free trade agreements the EU is negotiating.
